Another book suggested for my uni course and this was a great introduction to some of the most well known poetic forms like sonnets, villanelles, sestinas, ballads, etc. This book includes really nice, simple explanations of the poetic form, a short history of the form and then numerous examples of the form used well. A very useful book and nice, easy introduction.

This wonderful book was co-written by Eavan Boland who has sadly passed away. Her poetry is wonderful but I haven‘t got anything here because I read her stuff when I was a student and didn‘t have money to buy her books. Have to change that asap.

Have loved this book ever since first reading and learning of its existence, and would always recommend to lovers, readers, beginners, learned fans of POETRY. Fab examples of poetic fixed forms.
