Pickpick

This was a fun, simple overview of The Beat writers and their influence on other writers and artists. Focussing mainly on SF and NY, the obvious choices, I was glad to see Chicago mentioned as well.
The bios are brief and look at their lives at large, the graphics are fantastic. My favorites are the first three: Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg and William S. Burroughs. Diana DiPalma and Michael Mc Clure were very good.
Recommended.

When in San Francisco... Head to City Lights! City Lights is a historic public space noted for its role in mid-century radical Bohemianism. They published Ginsberg's "Howl"; and successfully defended it against charges of selling obscene material. Want to know more about the Beats? Pick up this graphic novel which offers perspectives of many of the key figures in b&w ink panels #getindie

Kirstin I have that book too! And I got it at City Lights! 😊 8y

Allen. Jack. William. Lawrence. Gary. Just a few of the stories this graphic novel reveals about the Beat movement. Also great perspective and stories from beatnik chicks, city lights bookstore and more...
