Leadership and integrity matter. A no nonsense look at issues all girls face. I loved this and couldn't read it fast enough. Each chapter is formatted like a letter, with a salutation and signature and each one has a lesson that we all could benefit from.
Excellent book and recommended.

Such a wonderful story, wrapped in folklore legend, this story does not let up. Genevieve has taken a long dreamed of trip to Scotland, to reconnect, and relax. Soon Genevieve is hunted and haunted by the loch and its dark legend, and a man whose obsession with her and the loch, could take control of her senses and lead her to make poor decisions. Maybe even her death.....

I enjoyed the storytelling and the depth of this short book.
Recommended.

Wow....what a book. I was so into this. The story Lou and Clementine was so inspiring and fun....The story and pacing brought this LGBTQ book to life. I was so invested........then along comes Lottie, Clementine sister......I just didn't like her, she ruined the entire book and it's rhythm for me.
Has this happened to anyone else? Loving a book and a character comes in that just twists your gut and you can't stand them??
Did you finish the book??
This is a great book I'd recommend and am glad Lottie wasn't really part of the story til the end.

I'd like to thank LibraryThing and Gibson House Press for sending this ARC.

A novel of disillusionment and loneliness that shares the unsettling dramas of love; in a sympathetic, yet unforgiving story of infidelity and emotional ambivalence. With a great sense of humor.

A great story of humanity, relationships, and personal responsibility.

A fast but highly recommended read.

Reggie Can we just talk about Kaye‘s end in here for a hot minute? I kinda felt the whole she had a bag packed for a while. But you just went after your child in the tornado. I just don‘t feel like the next and last move is, let me call a taxi to maybe take me to the airport because I‘m leaving my family. Other than that I liked this book and all the messages about to be sent and then erased. 4y

A quick, witty overview of some of the places said to be haunted in Arizona.
Outlaws, priests, Victorian ladies, whose restless spirits still roam these locations. Each place has a short story of the hauntings and/ or appearances that have been seen there, photos, and contact information. Basic, but covers many places, across the state.
Due to its publication date, some of these places no longer exist.
A quick, fun read.....recommended.

Hi friends..Im back!

The Mutations: A Novel | Jorge Comensal

I really was enjoying this book, its witty look at cancer....
then came the homophobic slurs, referring to "faggots" as mutations....then came the "faggots with AIDS" comments...
Because the main character had cancer of the tongue, I'm still unsure if the comments were more metaphorical or just plain ignorant....
Has anyone read this?? Thoughts??

From the front flap:
Ramon Martinez is a militant atheist, successful lawyer, and conventional family man. But all that change when cancer of the tongue deprives him of the source of his power and livelihood:speech.

Witty, funny and interesting look at the diagnosis and treatment of cancer from the eyes of the patient and his modern Mexican family.
Wonderful book. I'm just over halfway.....

Crash
by J.G. Ballard
1973/2019
PGW/Rare Bird Book
3.0 / 5.0

Auto-Erotica. Literally. A literary classic, but disappointing, for me.
A story of the interaction of man with machine, a man so obsessed with pleasure he doesnt see it is destroying him....
This is a brilliant story. It is overtly dark and perverse, which usually intrigues me, but I just didn't like any of the characters.

SpaceCowboyBooks It's a challenging book. I found it to be a parody of American film making, the car chase and crash is always the climax, so he took this theme a step further. Another of his books, Concrete Island, is more palatable. 5y

Extraordinary, brilliant writing and premise. What does it mean to be human? What does it mean to be an animal? Why is killing a human murder, while killing an animal is sport? If animals were given the same rights to life as humans, could they be charged with murder? This book points to the trappings humans bind themselves in, to feel they are more deserving of freedom, than animals.
This propulsive book made think, consider and wonder....

Chrissyreadit I agree wholeheartedly with the concept, but humans are so cruel to each other. 5y

The Beautiful Ones refer to eyes, like his mothers, who Prince seems to look up to, and love deeply. With many insightful passages and quotes from Prince, this is a memoir that will make you feel, somehow, closer to the mystery known as Prince.

I did enjoy this but, maybe because it was never really finished by Prince, it has a disjointed and rushed feel. Essential for fans, a great read for the rest!

What an intriguing and exciting beginning.....based loosely on the life of Henry Darger, an outsider artist and novelist (fascinating guy, check him out) and based in the Chicago area at the Riverview Amusement Park. Pin, a young orphan girl, disguised herself as a boy to get work and live with less fear, until she is witness to a murder. So far, I'm 100 pages in and loving it!!

Gideon the Ninth was a fantastic story, but it will definitely not appeal to everyone's taste. It's a

What a great story! Its short, written with precision and thought-provoking. A stimulating quick read. 'The Divers Game' deals with violence, how it effects society and how we are traumatized by the threat of violence against those considered as different, or other.

In this dystopian novel, the world is divided into two groups. Those that are born there, and those that arent.a story of Xenophobia, and the issue is immigration. I loved this.

An insightful look into a life of privilege from an actress, model, and the daughter of Edgar Bergen. It had to be hard growing up with so much expectation and always being in the spotlight, but Candace seems to have found the humor and joy in her work and her life. She has been successful and an inspiration, as well as an excellent friend, to many. Well worth the read.
