This quick read picture book is about a dog‘s day at the park. The dog is playing with a group of other dogs who are chasing him. They take a break from running to play in the mud. Then, the start digging and discover a dinosaur who ends up chasing them. 7y
Classroom Application:
I would use the book as a RA in Science as well as Language Arts/Reading. The science component can be done using the dinosaur, bones, and different animals more specifically different breeds of dogs. You could have the students guess what kind of dinosaur was found and what breed is the main character. The story also shows a repetition of short vocabulary words and onomatopoeia. 7y
Preview the vocabulary words‘ flashcards before RA. Go over the activity before conducting it and then review the activity, vocabulary words, and the story after the activity. 7y
Give students a laptop or tablet to go over the vocabulary words in the format of a PowerPoint with GIF, moving images, that demonstrate the meaning of the vocabulary words. For example, the word “Run” would have a GIF of a dog running.
