The Pact: A Gripping Psychological Thriller with Heartstopping Suspense
The Pact: A Gripping Psychological Thriller with Heartstopping Suspense | S. E. Lynes
3 posts | 3 read | 4 to read
Toni made a promise to her sister Bridget that could now destroy Toni's daughter, Rosie. 15-year-old Rosie is in the hospital fighting for her life. Rosie's mother, Toni, had a traumatic childhood, and she and her sister, Bridget, made each other a promise 30 years ago that they could never speak the truth about what they went through as children, and that they would protect each other without asking for help from others, no matter what. Rosie was Toni's second chance to get things right: a happy, talented girl with her whole life ahead of her. Having lost her husband in a tragic accident, Toni has dedicated her life to keeping Rosie safe from harm. But Rosie has plans that her mother doesn't know about. She has dreams and ambitions -- of love, of a career, of a life beyond the sheltered existence that her mother has created for her. But the secrets Rosie has been keeping have now put her life in danger. In order to save Rosie, Toni may have to break her lifelong promise to her sister...and open doors to her past she hoped would remain closed forever.

This is my listen for the next couple days at work 😎 I usually struggle finding a lone novel by new artists. So let's keep our fingers crossed boys and girls 🤞🏼

Pickpick

The storyline was engrossing and the sympathetic characters led to that. I was invested in the “what happens next” factor, but then after the “reveal” the rest of the ending became too elongated, too predictable, and therefore fell flat. I still give it a pick, I just felt as if the end could have been tightened up a little more because it was already clear what was going to happen so I didn‘t need a 1.5 hour unfolding. Just end it already.
