Something about these stories makes me physically hungry, like his early descriptions of sandwiches and beer carry through all the rest of it.

What Holmes had in wit and machinations, Maigret has in sheer force of will, as if the mystery were solved by a great boulder in the middle of a field. Will keep an eye out for the other Omnibus when ever I'm out shopping.

Got some solid book shopping in today. Have had this Penguin Omnibus on my radar for a bit. Found a nice copy for a good price used.
