Das Echo der Erinnerung
Das Echo der Erinnerung: Roman | Richard Powers
9 posts | 19 read | 11 to read

Pickpick

I finished this a few weeks ago and never posted. It took me a while to digest. At times it made me unbelievably depressed but I also couldn't stop reading. I think he went a little far in giving his character a rare neurological syndrome and having had his dad die of an incredibly rare condition... But be that as it may. I'd like to try something else by Powers.

SamAnne This has been on my TBR list for a long time. Thanks for the review. 2y
SamAnne The Overstory is one of the best books I‘ve read in the past decade. Really enjoyed Bewilderment as well. 2y

Mehso-so

134 pages in, 317 pages left to go. I‘m hoping this book gets better as the patient continues to receive treatment. However I‘m having a hard time following the story line. I can‘t visualize the scenes unfolding in my mind as I read as I normally do. I do not feel any connection to any of the characters at this point. I‘ve only bailed on 4 books so far in my entire life. I‘m trying hard to finish this one out, but I‘m struggling.

I‘m halfway through this book now, and things feel very unsettled. Something tells me I‘m not going to like what is ahead in this book. 😧

I‘m about a quarter way through this book, and I‘m not sure where it‘s taking me. I‘m going to hang in there to see if it captures my interest more. For now, I‘m just puzzled.

SqueakyChu What is interesting about this book is that it‘s about Capgras Syndrome. That‘s a condition in which an affected person believes that another significant person in the former‘s life is an identical duplicate of that significant person. This is a real thing! I had never before heard of this. (edited) 2y

After finishing another book by this author, I could not wait to read more works by him. I found this book in my local public library and started reading it immediately. I think this author‘s writing is beautiful. I‘m so happy I found it.

200+ pgs in and I wasn't hooked by either the characters or the storyline. The female protagonist was flat and since she is integral, I didn't buy in. The bird & landscape descriptions were enjoyable, and I love when novels are set in rural area, esp. less well known places like NE.

Up next! The blurb is intriguing; I've never heard of Capgras syndrome. I can't imagine how mentally & emotionally exhausting it would be.

ReadingEnvy Ooh I've been meaning to get to this, so I'll look forward to your review! 8y

Not exactly a simple friendship, but what a sister/brother relationship.

This book is beautiful and heart-wrenching.
