What starts off as the premise of a sugar-rush romance novel swifts it‘s proposition entirely when an intergenerational friendship steers the story instead, told from the POV of a widowed writer as he narrates the highs & lows of eighteen-year-old Karl on his coming-of-age journey. While Dying to Know You is labelled YA, the poignant prose makes for a more mature reading experience. It had a profundity to it that held my rapt attention. Beautiful.
