Panpan

An unfortunate waste of a great premise: less than one percent of black people are born with superpowers, and this forms the basis of centuries of racial subjugation. Unfortunately, the comic jumps directly from one action sequence to the next, leaving no room for character development or any real emotional impact. Additionally, way too many concepts are crammed into this six issue trade, and most are well-worn comic tropes.

Picked up some trades from Black Mask Studios on the recommendation of @queerbookreader, and they look beyond badass.

BLACK is about a speculative reality in which black people are oppressed for having superpowers. CALEXIT imagines California seceding from the US, Brexit-style. And LIBERATOR follows a group of a radical animal rights activists and their dangerous confrontations with the law. My little rebel heart is so excited for these!

Squidapus Black is fun, if you like it definitely get Black AF: America's Sweetheart (Confession, Squidapus liked it better than Black) 6y
2BR02B @Squidapus That's good to know! Especially since the reviews I've read for Black are pretty mixed. 6y
