An interesting concept for a book. I thought it was entertaining but the ending reveal had me wondering about things. This book is told partly in the present and partly in the past leading up to the current events

Evie in the best relationship of her life with Ryan, except none of them are 100% truthful with each other.
A fast-paced thriller which keeps you at the edge, good twists and turns, decent and relatable characters, and a satisfying ending. A few things felt a little far too fetched, but the writer did a great job overall. Mr Smith thing was kinda mid TBH. It is just very satisfying to see when the title actually makes sense in the book.
4/5🌟

Excruciating slow and terrible. The last 30 pages brings everything together but it barely makes sense and in no way makes up for the lethargic pace.

Rissreadswithcats Sorry this is probably very ignorant of me but where did your user name come from? It‘s very cool! 11h
5feet.of.fury @Rissreadswithcats hiii- my friend said it to me in High school more than 20 years ago at this point and I adopted it, no idea if he got it from somewhere! 4h

I still like Firestarter. What‘s weird though is that I always forget how it ends. It does hit a bit differently with what‘s going on with the government now. Given how awful Rainbird was, I feel that his fate was a little glossed over. #audiowalk #LosersClub

I must admit, once I learned the plot outlines, I considered the initial parts of the novel fun but more ridiculous than the James Bond movies.

But as the novel progressed, and especially at the climax, Trevanian (pen name of Rodney Whitaker) surprised me, imbuing the story with a pathos and grittiness I didn't expect. Some plot and character contrivances aside, it still is a spy novel worthy of a slow weekend's worth of time.

Recommended.

Camino Island | John Grisham
Mehso-so

My first Grisham novel. I like the characters. I found it to be a well-written story. But I did not find it suspenseful at all, which is what I expected from Grisham. I had to push myself to finish it. Not going to read Winds and Ghosts.
