The Fallen Princess (A Gareth & Gwen Medieval Mystery Book 4)
The Fallen Princess (A Gareth & Gwen Medieval Mystery Book 4) | Sarah Woodbury
9 posts | 2 read | 1 reading | 4 to read
Hallowmas 1144. With the harvest festival approaching, Gareth has returned from fighting in the south, hoping for a few months of peace with Gwen before the birth of their first child. But when an innocent foray to the beach turns up the murdered body of Prince Hywels long lost cousin, a woman thought to have run away with a Dane five years earlier, it is Gareth and Gwen who are charged with discovering her killer. The trail has long since gone cold, or so Gareth and Gwen think, until their investigation threatens to expose dangerous truths that everyone else from king to killer would prefer to keep buried. No secret is safe, and no man, whether lord or peasant, can escape the spirit of Hallowmas in The Fallen Princess, the fourth Gareth and Gwen Medieval Mystery.

Somehow, I forgot how each book is even better than the last. I couldn‘t help smiling at the end of this one, with Gareth and Gwen welcoming Tangwen into the world. Sadly, we don‘t get to see Llelo and Dai meet their new baby sister.

GingerAntics I finally figured out what is so weird about Godfrid‘s accent (and those of the rest of the Danes). This American actor doesn‘t know what to do with it, so she‘s just chosen a generic American accent. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 2y
GingerAntics Obviously, anyone speaking in an American accent in the medieval period annoys the ever living hell out of me. I can‘t wait for the next novel in the Welsh Guard series, so I can bask in the splendour of Tom Mumford‘s soothing voice again. #SarahWoodbury #TheFallenPrincess #audiobook #WelshHistory #GarethandGwen 2y

It looks like both @Texreader and I both enjoyed this one last time around. Fingers crossed for the audiobook. Pushing through the strange narration and on to The Fallen Princess. For some reason, I thought plot points from this one were in the last one. Whoops.

5🌟 This is amazing!!! Every book in this series is just that much better than the one before it. I am absolutely in love with this series, and these characters...even if I would like to see Cadwaladr get what‘s coming to him. I can‘t wait to see how things go with Tangwen in the rest of the series. #thefallenprincess #sarahwoodbury #wales

@Texreader Could someone just accidentally slip Cadwaladr some poppy juice or something? He is seriously getting in my nerves. 😒 Owain is being way to tolerant of his little brother.

He might have done it.
He probably did it.
He definitely did NOT do it.
Wait, he could have, actually, done it.

Texreader 🤣🤣🤣 6y

We don‘t have nobility in America, but I think this is just as true today, in America (and probably anywhere really) as it was back then. People who work hard to just get by, people who live pay check to pay check view death much differently than those who have everything they need and won‘t be affected anymore than missing a person when they die.

“A couple‘s ability to elope was codified I to Welsh law.”

GingerAntics @Texreader this interests me so much. The subtle, but important, differences between English (or what would become English) law, Welsh law, Scots law, and Irish law...especially before modern times. (edited) 6y
GingerAntics @Texreader just found Welsh on duolingo. This series makes me want to learn it. It might be crazy to try to learn Irish and Welsh at the same time...but I just might be crazy enough to try. 😏 6y
Texreader @GingerAntics Welsh scares me! When we were there last year it looked incomprehensible!!! 6y
GingerAntics @Texreader lol Irish is like that, too. The sounds the accompany the letters are so much different than our own. It definitely takes more time than other languages because of it. 6y

GingerAntics @texreader 😂 the “rule of thumb” used to be a very bad thing...no idea how it got to be what it is today. 6y
