The House by the Cemetery
The House by the Cemetery | John Everson
4 posts | 7 read | 3 to read
Rumor has it that the abandoned house by the cemetery is haunted by the ghost of a witch. But rumors won't stop carpenter Mike Kostner from rehabbing the place as a haunted house attraction. Soon he'll learn that fresh wood and nails can't keep decades of rumors down. There are noises in the walls, and fresh blood on the floor: secrets that would be better not to discover. And behind the rumors is a real ghost who will do whatever it takes to ensure the house reopens. She needs people to fill her house on Halloween. There's a dark, horrible ritual to fulfill. Because while the witch may have been dead... she doesn't intend to stay that way.FLAME TREE PRESS is the new fiction imprint of Flame Tree Publishing. Pickpick

The House By The Cemetery by John Everson is a brutal slasher set in an abandoned house that the town decides to turn into a haunted house attraction. But there‘s one problem, this house is already haunted.

1 part ghost story, 1 part romance & 1 part slasher, this book was a hit for me! I had so much fun while reading and I found myself totally spooked and a few times, repulsed! I‘m glad that I won‘t be going into any haunted attractions soon.

Similar to the horror movies back in the 80s and 90s even later. You be the judge. See my review at http://Quirkybookwormalways.blogspot.com #horror

The House by the Cemetery is almost like two separate books. The first 2/3 is suspenseful horror; the last 1/3 is an unrelenting gore fest.

I think the book could have used fewer characters, and the ending was fun and extremely gory, but it made the story seem uneven pacing-wise. It‘s a good, but not great, horror story.

This book was sent to me by Flame Tree Press as an ARC for an honest review.
