I was born the same year the Attica Prison riot in NY happened, the biggest prison uprising in US history. It was caused by the killing of inmate George Jackson at San Quentin, from which he‘d attempted escape. Had he succeeded, the progess of the Black Power movement may have been much more effective and probably more militant (in my opinion). This book should be read by anyone trying to understand race relations and incarceration in the US.
