Going to get a little personal: I‘m going through a rocky bit in my marriage and I‘d love your recommendations for relationship reading. People that stayed together, women striking out on their own, anything that doesn‘t assume traditional marriage is the strict default. There is no abuse and we‘ll be seeing a therapist, I think we are dealing with being different people at 40 vs. 22. Books about women and middle age also 👍. My email ⬇️. Thanks!

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I‘m not too into self-help type books, but I found this one interesting, just ignore the few parts where he gets a bit too preachy/religious, and one huge problematic sex example...but having said all of that I found the bases of it interesting and useful... (edited) 5y
merelybookish I'm sorry! And I understand! Marriage is hard. 😔 I am drawn to these kinds of books as well. I'll look over my Goodreads and send you a few suggestions. 5y

mauveandrosysky Here‘s my rec. Also, I admire your honesty and self-awareness and am hoping for the best for both of you, whatever that may look like. 5y
Lynnsoprano Thank you for sharing, because I know it‘s not easy. No recommendations that I can think of, but know that I‘m sending as much positive energy your way as I can😘 5y
802Librarian @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Thanks for reminding me that I have that at home. 5y
802Librarian @merelybookish @CouronneDhiver @Lynnsoprano Thank you. Right now I find I‘m struggling to express myself well and not make decisions rooted in frustration and stress. 5y
802Librarian @mauveandrosysky That looks interesting. More people to share the relationship load is sometimes appealing. 5y
GypsyKat I don‘t have a recommendation, but I want to wish you all the best. I was divorced when I was very young, and my current husband and I went through counseling several years ago and now we have a wonderful relationship. You never know where your path will lead, but stay strong and remember that you‘re never alone. ❤️ 5y
802Librarian @GypsyKat Thank you. I feel lucky that I have people I can reach out to no matter what happens. 5y

Mehso-so

My son loved “Press Here” and wanted more books by the same author. This one is good in theory, not great in execution. It‘s a fun idea that doesn‘t really go anywhere. The art is funny, though, and my son was entertained by it once, but it won‘t be one we reread.
