Pickpick

This book is about a teenage girl who as part of her coming of age story comes to believe her father may be a vampire. It's an interesting take on that type of story, not as much about vampires or horror, though there are bits of that, as it is about the journey of this sheltered girl finding her way into the world outside her overprotective home. Some of the events make it hard to believe that she is 13, time doesn't pass quickly, I guess

As the ice rains down outside I'm curling up to finish this one. I live in a small town in upstate NY, real upstate near Canada, and whenever I read a book that sprinkles in local towns and geography I'm always shocked. I find myself thinking and even saying "that's right up the road!" Or "I've been there!" Far more so than reading about someplace I've visited.
