In this gritty story Greg Garrity and his two best friends, Billy Smith and Will Striker, are growing up during the last half of the 20th century in Rogers Park, an eclectic working-class neighborhood on the northeast side of Chicago. One day, while on an ill-advised adventure, Billy and Will save Greg's life creating, in Greg's mind, a great debt that he feels he must repay his two friends. As the friends reach adulthood, their lives move in very different directions with various levels of success, failure, and misery mixed in. Through it all Greg Garrity continues to search for an opportunity to repay his best friends for saving his life. Where will their lives lead them, and will Greg ever be able to repay Billy and Will? These questions, along with some of life's bigger ones, will be answered when you read The PATCH of GREEN.
