This honestly should be a movie!
Such an incredible memoir of the authors childhood and what it was like for him growing up in Vietnam before and after the U.S. left the country. I could not put this down and re read so many of his stories that were so hard to fathom what that could have been like to experience. It really opened my eyes to what living in communism was like then and so devastating all the babies left behind after this war from Americans. An absolute must read!
A devastating memoir about an era of history that I didn't know much about. I knew that the offspring of Americans didn't fare well in postwar Vietnam, but had no idea how awful it really was. I think that it hit me harder because the author is my age and our lives were so different. Read and weep .
