This story hit home for me because I had a cousin who died from cancer. I remember feeling the foggy way that Milo described. I think that this would be a great classroom pick because it's silly enough to be enjoyable but heavy enough to help children understand the things that Milo is going through, and help them empathize.

This 2011 chapter book tells the story of a boy named Milo. Milo's mother recently died and this story acts almost like a journal for him. This story reminded me a lot of A Diary of a Wimpy Kid! I think that the style of this book makes the heavy issues that Milo is going through, more palatable for young children. I think that kids could read this story and gain an understanding of a different perspective.

I love Summer Goodman but she barely knows I exist

I would for sure put this book in my classroom. Milo is a great character and there must be a student in my room that relates to him.

This book does a great job relating to geeky students. Milo is a dork and experiences a lot of awkward situations throughout the story. He likes girls, but he doesn't know how to talk to them. The author does a great job displaying the problems with growing up today.

I think this realistic fiction book is good for coming of age middle-schoolers. They're starting to become interested in a love life and also may be going through puberty and are trying to find themselves. This can be a very hard and challenging time with a lot of self identity issues. This book helps them overcome and look at it in a new perspective. They get to see a real life concern portrayed into a developed understanding to find themselves!

This book has a good plot line to follow for kids of all ages and it also helps kids feeling left out or lonely feel included. The others get the view of how some kids might feel and be open to exploring new experiences as well. Overall great book with hope to be existed.
