A beautiful, honest portrait of loss and deep friendship told through the story of two iconic polar bears. Gus lives in a big park in the middle of an even bigger city, and he spends his days with Ida. Ida is right there. Always. Then one sad day, Gus learns that Ida is very sick, and she isnt going to get better. The friends help each other face the difficult news with whispers, sniffles, cuddles, and even laughs. Slowly Gus realizes that even after Ida is gone, she will still be with himthrough the sounds of their city, and the memories that live in their favorite spots. Ida, Always is an exquisitely told story of two best friendsinspired by a real bear friendshipand a gentle, moving, needed reminder that loved ones lost will stay in our hearts, always.

I really didn't like the ending of this book. I felt like death was the end, and those who have died are still here with us. As a strong christian, I know, and hope that my loved ones have moved on to eternal peace on heaven.

Sad and sweet. A tender tale of friendship and grief. I hate books that manipulate you to cry, and this one felt genuine and heartfelt.

This is a beautiful story based on the lives of two real polar bears, Gus and Ida, and how Gus learns that his love for ida will remain even after she dies. #lovemedo #libraryfind. Sharing this one with my children this week. #heyjune

Blaire @JoScho I read it with my 6 year old last night. It is so sweet and sad. Would be perfect for any child trying to understand loss. Really loved it. 7y

Geez, I didn't realize this book would make me ugly cry while I was trying to read it to the chicks. It's a great read, and addresses loss in a very child friendly way. Have tissues ready, though-I rarely cry (Nicholas Sparks can't touch this lol) and I was blubbering halfway through.

Went on a bear binge, apparently. Ida ripped my heart to tiny pieces and stomped all over it. It's beautiful!
