Charlie Joe Jackson's Guide to Not Reading
Charlie Joe Jackson's Guide to Not Reading | Tommy Greenwald
3 posts | 4 read | 1 to read
Charlie Joe Jackson may be the most reluctant reader ever born. And so far, he's managed to get through life without ever reading an entire book from cover to cover. But now that he's in middle school, avoiding reading isn't as easy as it used to be. And when his friend Timmy McGibney decides that he's tired of covering for him, Charlie Joe finds himself resorting to desperate measures to keep his perfect record intact. "Charlie Joe Jackson's Guide to Not Reading" by Tommy Greenwald is the hilarious story of an avid non-reader and the extreme lengths to which he'll go to get out of reading a book.

This fun RF is a great book for students who aren't a fan of reading. Charlie Joe has gone his whole life without reading a whole book but now he realizes that in middle school, he will have a hard time keeping that up. He is a relatable character for the most stubborn readers. This book would be a good book for an IR. Bwhitley222 A UDL that can be used is 7.1, optimize individual choice and autonomy. This is a great book for a self selected read because the student can relate to the text. The EL strategy for the text could be #4, link lesson topic to students' prior knowledge. This can also be applied to their prior experience such as with reading. #ucflae3414su19 (edited) 5y
DrSpalding What a great choice! Sadly you are going to have many children that are not fans of reading and this book could help them to see the light!😀❤️📚 5y

Probably not a book I'll buy for my classroom, but a lot of the commentary is cute. 😊
