#wcw #emmadonoghue 'It suddenly seemed like far too much trouble to explain... Besides, this garrulous stranger would think me a fool, or worse, a wistful spinster type given to browsing through maternity dresses' #Expecting was the first short story to blow my mind. I thought she was in my head ❤️

BookishFeminist Emma Donoghue is great--I need to read more of her stuff. What's your favorite? 8y
Onioons @BookishFeminist I've mainly read her short stories. The Welcome is incredible & I love The Cost of Things too. Expecting is an all-time favourite. It's about a woman who doesn't correct a wrong assumption by a stranger. When I read it at about 14 it was my first experience of capturing real feeling 8y
BookishFeminist @Onioons Thanks for the suggestions! I will definitely check those out. 8y

Pickpick

Particularly loved the stories on babies and desire but ended up even enjoying the ones about death. As usual, Emma D. has the ability to make you love humans with all their beauty AND flaws. Shit she's good.
