I guess I've always been fascinated by the Habsburgs and their tragedies. Noticias del Imperio (News of the Empire) is an account of the short-lived Mexican Empire installed after the French invasion as seen through the eyes of the Empress Charlotte. Her story is so tragic and heartbreaking. She and her husband Archduke Maximilian of Habsburg were convinced to come to Mexico under false pretenses and they lost everything. #Royals #ReadJanuary
