This NF read is a great research tool for students to learn more about their state. Allowing kids to independently read this can cause curiosity to arise about other states as well. UDL 8.1: this book can benefit in projects for students by supplying information and pictures clearly. ESOL #4 can be used, since the students have prior knowledge about Florida. The students can write about something they didn‘t know. #ucflae3414su19
Macker11 I couldn‘t find a resource directly related to this book but I did find this interactive workbook that would be fun for students to fill out! https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Florida-People-Economy-Government-In... it might be a great idea to have each student do a different state and then the workbook can be added to the classroom library! 5y

DawnS I kind of want to read this and see if I learn anything new about our state. Also, I like the idea you shared about having everyone in the class do a different state, sounds like it would tie in social studies too! 5y

DrSpalding Interactive notebooks are an excellent idea! You could truly do a lot with this type of nonfiction. In fourth grade, social studies standards center around Florida! 5y
