This book was disappointing. It somehow manages not to deliver on a biography of Eugene V. Debs, because it brings in too many extraneous details about labor struggles. Debs seems like a footnote rather than a star. It‘s unfortunate because Debs is a notable hero of American Socialism. I‘d recommend reading An Illustrated Guide to a People‘s History instead (the graphic version of Zinn). One plus: this book smells like stamps used to taste! 👅
