The Roman Way
The Roman Way | Edith Hamilton
Among these literary guides are Cicero, who left an incomparable collection of letters; Catullus, the quintessential poet of love; Horace, the chronicler of a cruel and materialistic Rome; and the Romantics Virgil, Livy, and Seneca. The story concludes with the stark contrast between high-minded Stoicism and the collapse of values witnessed by Tacitus and Juvenal.

Pickpick

76/150 Edith Hamilton is a gifted writer, and one of my favorite Greek and Roman historians. This book is unique because she chose the writings of Roman scholars, poets, historians, playwrights and politicians to describe what it was like to live in the Roman Empire. Basically letting the Roman's themselves tell us what was so great, and often so bad, about being a citizen of empire. 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
