pickI definitely got Honey Girl (Morgan Rogers) vibes though to the gift of poetry and not music but goodness if I count my blessings each time I get a glimpse of being thrust into stardom and how awful it seems to turn out for most. In Poemsia it's easy to see how social media can take so much out of context and either make or break you. Thank goodness for wonderful friends, a strong family base, and a smart main ch. who didn't have her blinders on.
so-soPOEMSIA is basically Teen Issues: Digital Age Edition, with a hefty side of New Adult Wish Fulfillment. It‘s good for what it is, but I‘m not quite the target audience for this type of thing unless it‘s also packed full of drama, which POEMSIA isn‘t. I imagine readers in the 13-17 range will get more out of it.
so-soSo this book wasn‘t bad. While I was reading it I was involved but as soon as I stopped I had a hard time getting back into it because it had realised all the flaws and things I disliked. Luckily I finished in like two gos
so-soI had high hopes for this one. I was excited to read it... and it fell a little flat for me.
It wasn‘t a bad story, it just didn‘t feel like there was a lot of substance to it. I had a hard time connecting with the characters. And there was a lot going on in the time frame but it felt a bit choppy.
The hardest thing for me was the exclamation points. There were SO MANY per page. The dialogue was riddled with them; it made my eye twitch. It hurt.
