just finished the first book for my african american literature class! i heard learned about william & ellen craft before so i appreciated reading their autobiographical account. the crafts escaped from slavery by performing as a slaveholder and slave. ellen, who was white-passing, disguised herself as a white, male slaveholder with william as her property. their story is almost unbelievable.
