This is an amazing book! I think this book is great for kids to help them realize nobody is perfect. You can‘t always win, and that‘s okay! I think a lot of kids, and people in general put pressure on themselves and I think this is a good book to show you don‘t have to do that! You can strike out, and still be mighty.

Casey at the Bat, winner of the Caldecott award is a great book! It tells the story of the mighty Casey, a baseball player with a great swing! Everyone is depending on Casey, but in the end he strikes out.

I was instantly drawn to this story because of my love for baseball. I think that this is a great story whether you are a sports fan or not. Of course, the children who like and play baseball might be more drawn to the book. but the lesson is the same for all kids. Casey was supposed to do great things for his team, and he wasn't able to. It's important for kids to see that just because you failed in the moment, doesn't mean you lost completely.

This nonfiction book tells the tale of a baseball star. This player is up to bat and expected to win the game for his team! However, he strikes out and the team loses. I think that this is a great nonfiction story for kids, because it's still laid out like a typical fiction story and has great flow. This story helps show that there aren't always happy endings, and it's okay to strike out sometimes.

I wasn't really sure of the purpose of this book because the end was abrupt and didn't seem to complete the message of “although Casey strikes out..“ he either didn't give it up or persevered... didn't seem finished.

Case at the Bat: A Ballad of the Republic Sung in the Year 1888 written by Ernest L. Thayer. The format of the book is set up like an old newspaper which adds character to the book. The sentences rhyme as well. This book may of interest to a child who enjoys baseball.

Published in 2000- this is the true story of the Ballad of the Republic in 1888. This book is about a baseball player who wants to win the game for his team, but does not succeed. This book is written like a poem, and it has newspaper headlines as the illustrations which is very cool! It looks as if the book came from that time period when this event took place!
