I picked this up solely because it was written by Dave Eggers. I didn't so much as glance at the publisher's blurb. So, imagine my surprise when I discovered quickly that it is a totally transparent satire of the Trump administration and the horrible damage he/it did to our country and the world. Dare I hope that anyone might rethink their allegiance to MAGA politics by reading this “The Emperor's New Clothes“-style tale?

My husband is a big fan of Dave Eggers & talked me into reading this political satire (not my normal fare). I enjoyed guessing who was who and I think you might too...

If you like Egger‘s usual fare you‘ll like this. Has punchy writing and surprisingly doesn‘t make the same political satirical points that have been made ad nauseam. Short read, and puts too much blame on Trump himself rather than the tides of white supremacy that led him there, but it‘s really good for a lazy afternoon or a flight.

Oh dear, a good satire can be so depressing. A timely read given our own Captain has just taken control of legal matters of interest to himself. When did it even become 'legal' for an American president to pardon a murderer or rapist? 'No one is above the law' it says in the Constitution. Not true says I, we're living in a fascist state, have been for some time. This idiot at the helm is now showing us what's possible. U.S.A!

I love satire and this book does not disappoint. I will forever see MAGA nut jobs wearing chicken suits.

Hilarious satire of our current political state. I laughed out loud through a lot of it and felt the sting of it at the same time. The audiobook is fantastic. John Hodgman does a spot-on Trump voice. I highly recommend this book.
