Lockie Leonard
Lockie Leonard: Human Torpedo | Tim Winton
3 posts | 4 read
Lockie Leonard, hot surf-rat, is in love. The human torpedo is barely settled into his new school, and already he's got a girl on his mind. And not just any girl: it has to be Vicki Streeton, the smartest, prettiest, richest girl in class. What chance have you got when your dad's a cop, your mum's a frighteningly understanding parent, your brother wets the bed and the teachers take an instant dislike to you and then you fall in love at twelve-and-three-quarter years old? It can only mean trouble, worry, mega-embarrassment and some wild, wild times.

I don't hate it with the intensity of my high school self...
but I still don't like it. At all.

(I recommend reading the one star goodreads reviews tho 😂)

Sorry Tim Winton fans.

MrsMalaprop 😂 Can't say you didn't give it a red hot go! If you should ever feel inclined to try another Winton, The Riders is my favorite. 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @SMW, I'll keep it in mind ☺️ I'm doing a #loveozya challenge on IG in February and Lockie could fit into a couple of categories... 8y

Let's see if I loathe this book any less as an adult...

MrsMalaprop Really? 😂 I am a massive Winton fan, and actually taught this book to Year 9s on a teaching Prac many moons ago. Be interested to see how you feel about it now. 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @SMW, I had to read this for English in Year 7. I didn't love it. My Mum thought it was brilliant. This is the only Winton I've read. 8y
