We Are Water Protectors tells the story of a young Indigenous girl who fights to protect her community's water from pollution. The book highlights the connection between water and life, inspiring kids to care for the environment.

You could use this in a lesson by discussing the importance of water and how to protect it. Use questions to spark conversation about environmental issues and encourage students to express their thoughts through art or projects.

I think that this book could be used to teach about the environment and how everyone should be an advocate for it. It talks about community and responsibility and how different actions in life impact our planet.

this story is about a young girl who learned about the importance of water and the importance of protecting it. It highlights the significance of water in our life, and how there are different threats that could damage it.

This book has a great theme of environmental awareness which I think it super beneficial to teach kids about at a young age. It emphasizes the importance of limiting pollution and creating clean water and overall is a great book.

I can see myself using this story for a lesson on earth day. Inspiring students to make change and take good care of the planet.

This book has beautiful illustrations and a very powerful message about protecting natural resources. This story is educational and entertaining and is a must read for children in my opinion!

I would use this book in my classroom to talk about environmental issues. It can also be used to talk about Native American reservations and the story that inspired the book.

I really love this book and how it discusses the importance of clean water. The book does a great job at highlighting our responsibility to take care of our environment.

This would be a great book to introduce pollution and its affects on our world. You could also talk about the Dakota access pipeline, due to this being based off of a true event.

Week 1: Caldecott Winner!This book is a great book with lots of interesting pictures. I love the use of metaphors and how the students can relate to the characters feelings. Great book to open discussions. Published: Mar. 17,2020.

I would definitely use this in a classroom around 2nd grade. The pictures are amazing and it has an impactful message about keeping the waters clean and protecting their land.

This would be a great book to teach children about environmental justices and to stand up for protecting our Earth.

In this book, a young girl fights to protect her people's water from a black snake who threatens to destroy the Earth and poison their most sacred resource. She learns from her grandmother the importance of this natural resource and that water is our first medicine. I enjoyed this book because it was a cute, inspirational story to show children why it's important to take care of our environment.

Definitely would use in my future classroom. It has a very strong and inspiring message to get across for students to get involved in standing up for what they believe in. Has vibrant and bold pictures that would be great for keeping student involved and engaged throughout the book.

We are Water Protectors by Carole Lindstrom. Was Published in 2020. Caldecott Award Winner. This book show cases a bold narrative. Along with having vibrant illustrations. This book has a very inspiring message, and is known to have led movement across North America.

“Its Venom Burns the land. Courses through the water making it unfit to drink.“

I would use this in the classroom, especially around earth day, and show why we have to take care of the earth and what happens if we do not. I would teach cause and effect and see if we don't do this what happens. This could also go into a persavie writing unit about how to stop pipes of oil from being built.

We are the Water Protectors by Carole Lindstrom, 2021- Caldecott. This story is a great cause-and-effect book. It shows how if we do not take care of the earth and the water in it we lose many things around us. This book also shows history and folk stories since it is told by Native American elders. It is so well written and the images are amazing truly a great read

The book has simple, but powerful words and the illustration evoked feelings about water, the importance of water, and the fear of the things that poison the water.
My favorite quote was, “We fight for those who cannot fight for themselves: the winged one, the crawling ones, the four-legged, the two-legged,...“
The book speaks about how water is our lives and if we don't take care of it, Earth will be in danger.
