pick⭐️⭐️⭐️ but still enjoyable. It is probably a disappointment for me considering Fox is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ author. It was lacking: the characters were damaged but not as well-rounded as others, the setting was for the first time in the US and maybe that didn‘t translate as well. But it was a dark, thrilling read. If it‘s a series, I hope the characters get fleshed out in full Fox style. Seeing all women characters taking on the patriarchy though? 👍👍

so-soI listened to Candice Fox‘s Crimson Lake series last year and absolutely loved it so I was excited to see a new title on my audiobook app. Sadly this was very mediocre, much more formulaic (and more like the James Patterson titles she wrote) than Crimson Lake. The characters were less intriguing (or developed) and I wasn‘t as invested in solving the mystery. Disappointing.
