Beyond Possible: One Soldier, Fourteen Peaks — My Life In The Death Zone | Nimsdai Purja

'If you're going to get one book this year get Beyond Possible.' - Ant Middleton *** Welcome to The Death Zone. Fourteen mountains on Earth tower over 8,000 metres above sea level, an altitude where the brain and body withers and dies. Until recently, the world record for climbing them all stood at nearly eight years. So I announced I was summiting them in under seven months. People laughed. Throughout 2019, I came alive in the death zone. Soon after, I was showing the world a new truth: that with bravery and enough heart and drive, the impossible was possible...

An easy read for most ages that, when contemplated, has a lot of wisdom and serious inspiration to push your limits.

As a mountaineering and special forces enthusiast I was extremely excited to read this book. It paints the picture of an exceptional accomplishment in shaving 7 years off the previous record by climbing all 14 8000m mountains in only six months. Something that the mountaineering community believed impossible. You read this to understand the accomplishments rather than for the writing quality. Nims brags in places, but if I were him I‘d be worse!
