This is a perfect book for the beginning of the school to introduce new friends or to introduce a classroom to a new student that may be coming in. It is really comforting to read.
Danbi Leads the School Parade by Anna Kim. 2020. Picture Book. Asian/Pacific American Librarian Association Literature Award. This is a great book about a child coming into a new classroom and country and how she fits in. I really enjoyed the movement of illustration in the book during the parade page.
“Nelly showed me how to write my name in big round letters. And together, we wrote our names on our cubbies.”
I think this is a great book to use when integrating diversity into your classroom.
