The Sleepy Little Alphabet
The Sleepy Little Alphabet: A Bedtime Story from Alphabet Town | Judy Sierra
6 posts | 4 read
A fun read-aloud for little ones who are learning their ABCs. It's sleepy time in Alphabet Town. But the twenty-six little letters of the alphabet all have something they needor wantto do before big-letter moms and dads tuck them in. Not since the classic Chicka Chicka Boom Boom has there been such an appealing way to teach the youngest child the ABCs while providing a one-minute goodnight story. Of course, Melissa Sweets animated watercolor, pencil, and collage illustrations may beg for a little more time to match up all the toys with the right letters, and Judy Sierra s rollicking rhymed story will want to be heard again and again. Okay, so maybe it s a three-minute story! From the Hardcover edition.

I would definitely read this to my future class when learning the ABC‘s. It‘s full of opportunities to link different letters to real words and meaning. The text on each page is short and sweet.

Genre: Picture Book
I love how this book spells out the alphabet with each sentence, and each sentence correlated with the letter being talked about. I like how the pictures portray the letters as “people.”

Librarians tip: please DO NOT tape a ripped page. Alert the library. Some libraries use special acid free tape, some use special glue, and some just replace the book. We ask you not to tape it at home because most tape that is not meant for books causes discoloration and even sometimes eats the paper.

Bookzombie This is good to know! Thanks! Not that I tear books up but you never know. 😏 8y
LibrarianRyan @Bookzombie if you make it through a library career with out a book accident it's a miracle. I've had a dog chew one and misplaced a horrible cd. Happens to everyone and we librarians are much nicer to people who just say hey we did this. 8y
