My favorite book of least week was, Bookshop Cinderella. I probably never would have read this one if it hadn't been for #LittensLoveRomance
Just goes to show, never judge a book by its cover.

This was a light read with a happy ending. It made me happy. 😊
A slow burn, a little bit of sizzle, thank God we don't live in that Era kind of book. #LittensLoveRomance @StayCurious #Read2024 @DieAReader Two Bingo spots on ywo bingo boards #ISpyBingoAprilMay @TheAromaofBooks #SeriesLove25 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView #ShelfSweeperReadathon @Tove_Reads @Andrew65 #4Elizabeth @eanderson
I read this book for #LittensLoveRomance hosted by @StayCurious. Total fluff and the definition of a beach read. I liked the characters, especially the FMC, Evie. The plot was good. I felt the ending was a bit rushed. If you like feel-good stories with little tension, this would be a good book for you. 3.5⭐️ #Read2025 @DieAReader #ShelfSweeper @Tove_Reads @Andrew65 #JumpStartSummer
A fun romp of historical romance… light and fluffy and just what I needed right now!
I really enjoyed this sweet romance with a cross between My Fair Lady and Cinderella vibes. Thx #littensloveromance for the light hearted buddy read
#LittensLoveRomance Ch.19-end: A great ending and a sweetly romantic one - although I do think Rory should have gotten more of his comeuppance. I hate when characters rise above 😉 be a bit petty once in a while. I liked that it was a fairy tale but with some realistic expectations. She will be a duchess - will she be perfect? God no - but she‘ll do her best. And Max loves her no matter what. ⬇️
Such an adorable HF romance! The two MCs are just so likable and I rooted for them immediately. Don‘t want to say too much as the #LittensLoveRomance buddy read isn‘t quite finished. 🤫

#LittensLoveRomance: Ch.17-18: Evie thinks her time in the Duke‘s world is over - and to be fair he hasn‘t clarified that he intends to marry her. He kind of just sent her out into the hallway after their liaison. But I do think she has her pride and that may get in the way of their romance. And so will Rory - I know he‘s lurking around, ready to pounce and ruin things. Hopefully Evie and Max are made of stronger stuff.
#LittensLoveRomance Ch.15-16: Evie is coming out of her shell and actually doing well in the duke‘s circle. But his past with Rebecca is a sad one and no wonder he doesn‘t want to make that mistake again. That is until he finally gives in and kisses Evie in the library (every romantic bookworm‘s dream 😏). He‘s gone over her - and he knows that if he wants her, he‘ll need to be honourable and propose. At great risk to his heart.
#LittensLoveRomance Ch.13-14: well these two, honestly- they need to start being honest with themselves and not so damn practical. Although that was an amusingly awkward conversation after the kiss. I hope now that Delia is around, she‘ll be able to steer Evie into the right direction. Or at least glean what Evie really wants. And here‘s hoping Rory gets trapped down a well.
#LittensLoveRomance “When you smile that adorable crooked smile you‘ve got it makes me rather lose my head.” 💕
#LittensLoveRomance Ch.11-12: So typical for Rory to show up when he thinks something might be in it for him. What a grifter! I hope Evie sees through him, before he ruins things for her. Now the duke, that‘s a nice distraction- but it‘s good she‘s trying to remain cautious in her feelings for him, & in her expectations. Cinderella stories don‘t honestly happen in the real world- HEA is a rare thing. But maybe she can allow a small amount of hope?
I am LOVING this #littensloveromance buddy read although in this case it was dancing without gloves 😱
#LittensLoveRomance Ch.9-10: Well, there were tame shenanigans- touching hands without gloves, lingering glances, tripping into each other - but it did get them both hot and bothered. And then the duke avoided her all week! Boo. But I totally get why with his experiences. It‘s nice to see the attraction is on both sides though. Here‘s hoping they realize it sooner rather than later. I‘m also glad Evie is getting a bit of confidence. She needs it.
#LittensLoveRomance Ch.7-8: Shopping on a Duke‘s dime - must be nice (and she deserves it). But I‘m glad we established he‘s rich and not one of those aristocrats who‘s deep in debt (like so many were at the time) - Now we find that she can‘t dance - rather than having her scandalously join him at his empty house, why doesn‘t he just pay for a dance tutor? I sense some shenanigans might happen with them being alone.

Bookshop Cinderella is set in London, England in the late 19th century. Reading for #LittensLoveRomance @StayCurious
#LittensLoveRomance Ch.5-6: Evie certainly has rotten luck- I really hope her books will be okay.she‘s lucky more damage wasn‘t done. And Duke Max to the rescue with the insurance and with getting her a place to stay. How could she say no? I‘m also glad she realizes Rory is kind of a moron. The book he gave her - It reminded me of a gift I once got - so out of touch. I‘m glad she‘s smart enough to see that. Will he bother her at the Savoy though?
A happy coincidence for the #LittensLoveRomance two chapters a day readalong with @StayCurious ! It is MAY and the book‘s content happens in MAY!!!
#LittensLoveRomance ch.3-4: The wager is made. At least the duke is telling Evie about it. I was worried we‘d have a “She‘s All That” scenario where the main girl is unaware of being played. At least in this way Evie gets a bit of a say - if she says yes. What could entice her to do this, I wonder? Maybe to show people she‘s capable? ⬇️
#LittensLoveRomance: Ch.1-2: a refreshing start to this historical romance, set in the late 1800s. I appreciate that the duke‘s been married before (although that certainly is a sad story) and I appreciate that his cousin has a job and has been married 3(!) times. You can tell that society is not nearly as stringent as in say, an earlier regency romance. ⬇️

Reading goals for #LittensLoveRomance @StayCurious
Quite a fun read! I‘m definitely interested in Delia‘s book. The setting didn‘t feel as heavily regency as some do. I‘m not sure if that‘s a plus or a minus 😂 #LittensLoveRomance
Because Everand‘s new policies are dumb, and there‘s a months long wait for the ebook- let‘s see if I can get this done before we leave for vacation on the 20th! I know I could, but it makes me nervous to travel with library books.😂 #LittensLoveRomance

A delightful story perfect for me as I am still recovering from a reading slump.
🌹seen on a recent walk.
Imagine the film "She's All That" set in turn of the century England with a bookish twist. With playful and witty back and forth between the two, you will find yourself completely immersed in the opposites attract story of Evie and Max and they listen to their hearts. Side note: I need a book about Delia next!!
This book doesn‘t take itself too seriously in regards to historical accuracy, but it does a great job of taking a She‘s All That story and making it less ridiculous.
Evie owns a book shop and does research for clients on the side, which leads her to a run in with a Duke and his rude charges who bet him that he can make Evie into a sought after debutant. Max sets out to prove them wrong and Evie is a full participant.
4/5 stars.
I decided to give this one a go when I saw it in the new releases at my library. I prefer contemporary rom-coms when I read romance so a historical romance is something different for me. The heroine, Evie, is more Eliza Doolittle than Cinderella. The plot will be familiar to you. Others have compared the story with She‘s All That and I agree. Overall this is a predictable, breezy, escapist read.
