This is a beautiful collection of poems with some art by the poet as well. Many of the poems are about family, struggling with self-acceptance, and hope for the future. This is one of my favorites.

I know you‘re not “supposed to” have favorite students, but my favorite student gave me this book for Christmas. I love this child. She is so thoughtful and wonderful to talk to. She‘s been through a lot recently, and she has amazing strength and presence of mind.
