This is a love letter to Gerry's adopted city of Manchester (spoiler alert: he doesn't think Liverpool is the greatest city in the world either), but when you really love something, you see its faults clearer than anyone.

arlenefinnigan You can dismiss this as an arl get complaining that things were better when he was young if you want, but it's a powerful argument from someone who's been there, seen it and done that, and it's a welcome antidote to the anodyne Positivia about Manchester's 'regeneration' and the priorities of people in power in the arts scene. A brilliant snarl in the face of the Bourgeois Zeitgeist. I'm probably still gonna have halloumi for tea, though, sorry G. 9mo
