Kate & Tristan are hired to investigate a case of a missing child, which leads them down a twisting path out on the moors trying to piece together what happened 11 years ago. Bryndza keeps the mystery fresh & puts in twists leaving you wondering how it could be related to the missing child. I found myself engrossed and whizzing through the chapters.

One thing I will comment on...does everyone in Devon & Cornwall own an Aga?

Read a review copy of the 4th book in the Kate Marshall series, although haven‘t read the previous books. Despite not having read the previous ones this stood up well on its own. I enjoyed the book and the characters and would like to learn more about them and at some point will pick up the other books in the series. However other series I need to progress first.

36th book finished for #WinterReadathon

Andrew65 This one covers the disappearance of a 3 year old many years before where there has been no resolution as to what happened. Kate is asked to look into the case with very little evidence available. 2y

This is my first from this author, and I did it again (jumped in to an established series, this is 4th). Kate, a former cop and her partner Tristan are private detectives. While in hospital following a near-death experience, Kate meets Jean who asks her to investigate her grandson‘s disappearance (he was 3) eleven years ago from their campsite on Dartmoor. There are lots of twists and turns with an interesting assortment of characters 🔻

robinb trotted out. Did Charlie drown in a nearby river? Was he taken/murdered? While the second half was engrossing, this was very much a slow starter for me. Also, there were a couple of plot points that I questioned. And while I didn‘t feel overly connected to Kate or Tristan, I‘ll grudgingly pass that off as jumping into a running series. Enjoyable but not sure if it was enough to double back to the beginning. 3.5/5⭐️ 2y
