Mehso-so

This was a first for me. I spent more time feeling sorry for the male protagonist, hoping he would get out of the relationship. I felt Liyah held all the emotional cards and Daniel was always the one walking on eggshells waiting for her to toss him crumbs of affection. And the issues that seemed major to me were glossed over while we spent a lot of time on things that didn‘t matter much. It wasn‘t a terrible read, but it wasn‘t satisfying either.

Pickpick

These characters felt so real! I wanted to be a part of the SSC and hang out in Chicago with them. The diversity of everyone's background was so well-crafted, too. My only complaint is sometimes I felt Liyah was a little harsh on people in a way that didn't get reckoned with, but your mileage may easily vary. She and Daniel have my whole heart!! #contemporaryromance #romcom

Bailedbailed

While I was loving the Chicago setting and the feature of one of my favorite museums (the Field!)- I just couldn‘t bring myself to finish this one! While a diverse cast in a romantic comedy is great, there needs to be a bit more character development and actual romance rather than a story that feels like it‘s just checking off diversity boxes & adding oddly placed lecture-it‘s hard to connect with characters that aren‘t developed & lack chemistry!
