I would suggest to use this book in any classroom where poetry is being taught or talked about. This book allows readers to see examples of conventions used in poetry and prompts of what they can write about. This can inspire creativity in poetry writing and would be useful in classrooms.
This book flips the script of a regular book of poems. Instead of giving the reader the experience to read poems, Coelho gives the reader prompts that allows them to think about how to write poems for themselves and how to reflect upon what they wrote. There are examples of imagery, similes, and other poetic devices that teach the student what they can include in their poems.
I really liked the “I am“ poetry prompt. This would be really good for a beginning of the year project to introduce students to each other and to introduce poetry.
I enjoyed looking through this book. It would be very helpful for teachers and even parents to use when introducing poetry to children. I would also recommend this book to older grades because all of the prompts can be interpreted in very different ways.
This book is filled with over 40 prompt to guide children in creating a poem. This book has several prompts some asking to make poems with one word and some asking to make tongue twisters.
I really liked this poetry book because it is great to use for older elementary school students. Students can use this book to help them with aspects of their own poems. It also shows them how these different aspects are used in popular poems already. Some examples of terms are rhyming, similes, and metaphors that are often used in poems. I would love to use parts of this book in my fifth grade class.
This book provides very resourceful skills in order to help students gain a better understanding for poetry. Overall, it allows students to use their creative skills to create poems about their own interests with guided practice and examples.
This book of poetry shares insight on how to engage students to use poetry in the classroom. The book gives great detail on helping young students discover their voice and express their feelings through guided instructional plans.

You might not realize it but you are a poet! You became a poet as soon as you opened this book because you started a journey.
This book is perfect for beginning writers and even practiced poets in the classroom looking to up their game. This would be a great enrichment activity that your proficient writers can do independently or a whole class assignment to walk students through poetry conventions.
