From the producers of Smile and The Outsider comes a chilling psychological thriller starring Isabela Merced (Alien, Superman: Legacy) and Christopher Briney (The Summer I Turned Pretty).
Aaron Fortin is new in town. He drives a brand-new Acura—a gift from his parents for uprooting him in the middle of senior year. Showing up on his first day at the local public school in that nice of a car? He knows he’ll never blend in, and he doesn’t care to try. The car, the new kid mystique, he can use all that…
Crystal Giordano carpools to the same school in her friend Trevor’s beat-up van. In the van along with Crystal and Trevor are Paul, Harmony, and Gayle. Crystal’s technically part of their misfit group, but most of the time, she feels like she’s the only one who doesn’tfit.
When Aaron Fortin sits at their lunch table, Crystal can see he’s not who he says he is. But how big of a fraud is Aaron Fortin? Crystal clumsily exposes Aaron and becomes his target, falling victim to his insidious campaign to erase her. Only then does she discover who he truly is—and it’s so much worse than she thought.
As her friends begin to follow him one by one, Crystal wonders if she can protect them or if his influence is just too strong.

One of my reading quirks is that if I read a terrible book, I must immediately follow up with a better book on the same sub-genre. Last night I finished Serafini's “Feeders“, a novel filled with unlikeable characters, heavy reliance on slang & in need of editing. I'll admit that the ending was a bit bonkers, but 400 pages of Main Character Energy from all of the characters gets tiring. It ended up as one of my lowest rated books this (CONT)

vivastory year. Today, I decided to read another social media horror novel, by a trusted author and I'm so glad that I did! Cesare's Influencer was an audible original, & is now released in paperback (I recall hearing an interview with Cesare that this was a condition of him agreeing to an audible to begin with). It tells of manipulative Aaron Fortin who moves to Long Island the spring of his senior year. In alternating chapters we also hear from (CONT) 2mo

I loved a couple of these characters so much that I was anxious for them while trying to take a nap this afternoon lolol I've read a few Cesare books and this is definitely a favorite. I will say that in Cesare's book, the social media & influencer culture while important plot points, also feel secondary to character development & plot. (edited) 2mo

I know social media can be scary but this takes it to a whole new level! Just imagine if a psychopath became a big social media influencer and utilized that power to manipulate and ruin people? Well here ya go! Sadly I‘m sure this is already happening but hopefully not to THIS level 😳. Thrilling pace, great characters, and a new spin on horror for a modern audience. Definitely recommend it was a great listen! 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was the last book I listened to in September! I loved the production of it. It had such dark/creepy vibes. I can see this to be a #BookToScreen.

4.25⭐I listened to this while wrapping presents…& it probably wasn‘t the best book to listen to while doing that, & yet, it worked quite well for me. What does that say about me🤷🏼‍♀️…🤔Never mind, I don‘t want to know.
This had an intense opening but then it stalled out & became more thought-provoking until the action picked back up again at the end. While the characters are YA…the subject matter does sometimes venture into some dark areas.
