⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Beautifully written and narrated, this important and powerful memoir pulses with life and an urgency to protect the lands of our interconnected world. Nemonte Nenquimo is a leader and activist from the Waorani tribe in Ecuador who works to defend Indigenous territories in the Amazon rainforest from destruction. ⬇️
I didn‘t think I needed to be reminded of how brutal oil companies in its pursuit of profit can be so incredibly cruel to a people and their land, health, and culture, but dang😡 And missionaries aren‘t looking so good either. #NFN
Nemonte was born into an Amazonian tribe in 1986; her people were only contacted in her father‘s lifetime. Here, she tells her story from childhood to now, as she helps lead the fight against the government to protect their land from oil companies. It‘s a remarkable book that I hope will be wider read.
