Yellow dandelions always let me know that warmer days are just around the corner. I‘m so ready to be reading outside. #reesesbookclub

I really wanted to love this book, and parts of it I did. Yet, Eleanor Oliphant had a very slow start. Once I read a little more than half of the book, I couldn‘t seem to put it down. The book‘s plot and structure are very much like it‘s narrator. Eleanor is unsuspecting and even bland, but once the surface has been scratched another side the Eleanor, and ultimately the novel, is revealed. #reesesbookclub

At first it was hard to get into the story or really care about anyone because there were so many characters. The last third of the story picks up and has interesting twists. I do think this would translate really well to TV as a limited mini-series. #reesesbookclub 🎧

marleed When I read a Reese Witherspoon Bookclub pick, I realize I read it differently than other books. I read it as a script for future adaptation. I wouldn‘t want to approach every book I read this way but I do have fun flipping how I read her picks - as though I am the executive producer for this future endeavor! 2mo
ICantImReading @marleed that‘s such a fun approach, and also smart, because it‘s likely her picks could be adapted! I‘m really looking forward to see what Hello Sunshine does with Daisy Jones and Crawdads! I wonder what others might be in the works 🧐 2mo
marleed @ICantImReading oh my gosh, I can‘t wait to watch Elvis Presley‘s granddaughter play Daisy Jones! 2mo

3.25⭐️ While there were aspects of the book that I really liked, I felt that there was a good chunk of the book that I struggled to get through. I really liked the sections when Nan was at the mother‘s home and felt that they were better than the more current timeline that was presented in the book. #2022 #historicalfiction #basedonatruestory #1920s #fiction #bookreview #bookstagram #reesesbookclub

De Gramont spins a clever historical re-imagining of what could have happened during Agatha Christie‘s mysterious real life disappearance, while also weaving in a separate Christie-style murder mystery. This is more about Nan than it is about Agatha; I was surprised by how much I liked her character. I was unsure of where things were going for awhile, but every piece of the puzzle came together in a way that I loved! 🎧 #reesesbookclub

Andrew65 I loved this too. 3mo
robinb I enjoyed this as well. And Nan‘s likability surprised me too. 😊 3mo

#reesesbookclub has picked an amazing read for January! This story broke my heart while at the same time made me think. This isn‘t a light read by any means but one that is very much worth taking the time to pick up.

jenniferajanes I‘ve got this one on hold at the library! 4mo
KristiAhlers @jenniferajanes oh I hope you like it! I thought it was so good. It sickens me that honor killings are still something practiced. 4mo
jenniferajanes @KristiAhlers I hope so too. I‘m kind of on the fence about reading it because I know it will be hard. 😭 4mo

KristiAhlers @jenniferajanes to be honest it was the last book in the January book club books I selected to read. But while it was hard I loved the characters, loved how Smita dealt with her own cultural biases even though she was born in India but now lived in America. 4mo
jenniferajanes @KristiAhlers Thank you for sharing that with me. I think I‘m going to try it when my hold is available. 4mo
KristiAhlers @jenniferajanes you‘re very welcome. Let me know what you thought after you‘ve read it 4mo
jenniferajanes @KristiAhlers Of course! 😊 4mo

I‘m ending the year on a wonderful read! Elif Shafak is a beautiful and compassionate storyteller. Her lyrical writing incorporates hints of folklore, history, and magical realism. I loved how seamlessly stories of plants and animals were woven into the narrative of connection, memory, trauma, home, and love. I don‘t think I‘ll ever look at trees the same way. #reesesbookclub

This evoked my preteen days of enjoying The Princess Diaries! Izumi is a relatable teenager swept up in a Japanese fairytale. I was more interested in her relationship with her father and cultural identity instead of her love interest, but it was adorable overall! 🎧 #reesesbookclub
