A harrowing read on an important topic, but it seems to be written for a Western audience and lacked nuance. 🎧 #reesesbookclub

History, mediums, and sobriety, oh my! This is a fresh take on an intergenerational story that uncovers the women‘s lives who have lived in one place over time. It isn‘t a new favorite for me, but I was engaged and enjoyed it overall. 🎧 #reesesbookclub

I‘ve been in the mood for a thriller set in a fun location, and this fit the bill! I was interested in Ellery and her story right away. There wasn‘t much suspense or action for most of this, though, and I wasn‘t emotionally invested in the mystery. There was too much explaining instead of storytelling. 🎧 #reesesbookclub

The “enemies to lovers” trope is on another level with a tragic backstory the two main characters must overcome while working together in the writers‘ room for a book-to-screen adaptation, producing a love story that‘s romantic, steamy, and emotional. 🎧 #reesesbookclub
I finished this last night and it was a race to the end. I really like how the story is going along nicely and then TWIST. Lots of fun with some dark undertones. Very spicy (it‘s not just a clever title).
Read if you like girl power and reading about different cultures.

Read with my sister. We‘re reading #ReesesBookClub books together, and this also fit for the #keywordreadingchallenge (story).

Overall, this was a compelling read examining class, race, and gender inequities in the academia and art worlds. It was also interesting to go down an internet rabbit hole learning about Ana Mendieta, the Cuban artist whose life (in part) inspired Anita de Monte‘s character. Anita‘s sections were passionate, vivid, and urgent; I thought they were the most impactful. 🎧 #reesesbookclub
👰🏻 This story takes place on a small Irish island where an extravagant wedding is about to take place. The only problem is that by the end of the night someone winds up murdered.
🤵🏼An excellent mystery that I could not stop reading after the first twist, & there are a lot of twists. My photo is from Wednesday night when I read with Nova past my bedtime to finish. Taken at La Posada in Winslow, Arizona.
