Reading Junot Diaz
Reading Junot Diaz | Christopher Gonzalez
3 posts | 1 read | 10 to read
Dominican American author and Pulitzer Prizewinner Junot Daz has gained international fame for his blended, cross-cultural fiction. Reading Junot Daz is the first study to focus on his complete body of published works. It explores the totality of his work and provides a concise view of the interconnected and multilayered narrative that weaves throughout Dazs writings. Christopher Gonzlez analyzes both the formal and thematic features and discusses the work in the context of speculative and global fiction as well as Caribbean and Latino/a culture and language. Topics such as race, masculinity, migration, and Afro-Latinidad are examined in depth. Gonzlez provides a synthesis of the prevailing critical studies of Daz and offers many new insights into his work.

Pickpick

This book is a delight and I had so much fun reading it. I am such a Diaz fan. I've read all his stuff. And this book really explores everything about Diaz that intrigues me. This book explores Dominican history, race, Africa, gender and so much more in Diaz's work. If you haven't read all of Diaz work, I urge you to wait. Major analysis is being done here that can spoil his books. I'm going to have a major book hangover after this one.

Yeah...I'm going to love this one. I can feel it. This is analysis of Diaz's work. I believe it's the first book that does this too. I'm going to be supporting more Latino writers this year along with more works in translation. It's not a burden to support my people, it's a gift 🎁.

BooksForEmpathy Whatttt!? I have not seen this yet. Buying it now. Omg!! 7y
Notafraidofwords @BooksForEmpathy it's not a book by him. It's mostly an academic book about his work. So far I'm a few pages in and that's what I get from it. 7y
BooksForEmpathy Yes, I saw that - it makes me even more interested though to see his work analyzed. Can't wait!! 7y

Leelee.reads I'm in the middle of Oscar Wao and tearing through it, because I want to know what happens. I know I'm going to need to go back and re-read several times to get everything out of the book though. Interested in this companion book, too! 7y
Notafraidofwords @Leelee.reads awesome. I love Oscar Wao. I recommend who heartily the audio book - that is how I reread it. 7y
