May Day: A Short History of the International Workers' Holiday, 1886-1986 | Philip Sheldon Foner
1 post
This is the story of May Day, a day of political demonstrations and celebrations organized by unions and other labor groups. The holiday started in the United States in the 1880s and since 1890 celebrated by working people worldwide. This book explains its origins and describes celebrations through the years. It describes those who protested the injustices of their time as they united to demand shorter work hours and a world free from imperialist war.

Happy International Workers day! Unions made the labor market better for all workers. They helped to stop the exploitation of laborers. 8 hour work day, child labor laws and much more. The tagged book is a good read on the subject. Be safe out there. Remember the Haymarket Affair.

Trashcanman @quietlycuriouskate Thank you for informing me of the event. This is a subject I‘m passionate about. It‘s disgusting how people will exploit others for extreme profit. How much fucking money do you actually need? It‘s. Sickness. Pardon the language. 3d
quietlycuriouskate I hear you! 2d
