I finally got one!! I‘ve been tagging this book since 2018 (for those that don‘t know my name is George). It‘s been out of print since 2019 since it‘s from a small independent author. It cost a bit for what it is but I finally found a used copy. I got it from Abe‘s books. Seems interesting too. @Yuki_Onna
I took this photo in 2017 at the height of my mental health struggles and significant depression. Appearances are meaningless. Everyone wants to present themselves in a way that often conflicts with how they actually feel inside. I‘ve been off medication for almost one year (except for anxiety). For the first time in my life I feel like there might be a grain of truth to what many people have said & that I dismissed. It can get better.
I want to feel like more
More than this routine
Than this loneliness that hums beneath everything.
I want to feel like I was meant—

If we had a keen vision and feeling of all ordinary human life, it would be like hearing the grass grow and the squirrel's heart beat, and we should die of that roar which lies on the other side of silence
We are nothing but perpetual animals. What‘s the use of these huge fragile enthusiasms, these dried-out leaps of joy? We know nothing but dead stars; we look at faces; and we sigh with pleasure. Our eyes turn aimlessly, hopelessly. There‘s nothing now but these cafés where we meet to drink these cold beverages, these mixed drinks, and the tables are stickier than these sidewalks where our dead shadows from the day before have fallen.
Now the darkness only stays the night-time
In the morning it will fade away
Daylight is good at arriving at the right time
It's not always going to be this grey
All things must pass
All things must pass away
George Harrison

I heard of a saint who had loved you
So I studied all night in his school
He taught that the duty of lovers is to tarnish the golden rule
And just when I was sure that his teachings were pure
He drowned himself in the pool
His body is gone, but back here on the lawn
His spirit continues to drool
One of us cannot be wrong
Leonard Cohen
God the nights stretch endlessly, filled with thoughts. The thoughts don‘t stop. It feels like having different conversations at the same time. I speak over myself. I hear jumbled words. Incoherent phrases. Hope is a stranger. My thoughts at time are unbearable. Tonight is such a night. I hope you all have a kind night.

They want silence more than freedom.
Not your chains, just your quiet.
Not your heart, just your hush.
They fear your voice like thunder,
Because truth breaks more than glass.

“What happened to the U.S businesses that collaborated with fascism? Corporations like DuPont, Ford, General Motors, and ITT owned factories in the enemy countries that produced fuel, tanks, and planes that wreaked havoc on allied forces. After the war instead of being prosecuted for treason ITT collected 27 million from the U.S government for war damages inflicted on its German plants by allied bombings. G.M collected over 33 million

When despair for the world grows in me and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be, I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free

1) I went to Catholic schools K-12 and I was an average student. I did better in college and graduated summa cum laude from Colorado State University.
2) I tagged my favorite book and I am wondering if it counts because Holden technically just got kicked out of high school.

Today is national Trans day of visibility. My son came out to us in 2013 at 11 years old. I admire him for being able to be his authentic self. Trans people represent 1-2% of the population. They want to live life just as you we do, and have the same rights that we do.
If the love for your child is contingent on them being a cis-gender heterosexual then you are the problem. Not the transgender person who wants to use the bathroom.
@jen_the_scribe This is the photo my wife took Jen. See the orb by the window. There‘s no glass in that window. She‘s convinced it‘s a spirit.
We visited the Whaley house tonight. America‘s “most haunted house”. There‘s a lot of history at the location their house was built and the family had an obscene amount of tragedies. I don‘t believe in ghosts but none the less it was fun to hear about the history and family that lived here in the 1860‘s. It‘s located in San Diego, California. I bought the tagged book from the gift shop. If you like ghost shit you‘ve probably heard of this place.

“Is fascism merely a dictatorial force in the service of capitalism? That may not be all it is, but that certainly is an important part of fascism‘s raison d‘être.“
The Cheeto and his minions co-opt nationalist rhetoric and militarism to channel discontent away from economic inequality and toward scapegoated groups. The Cheeto wants workers to remain divided and unable to organize effectively against exploitation.

This world is full of injustices that make daily living unbearable for those poor souls (like me) prone to melancholy and despair. On top of all the bullshit going on I had to see these two authors works side by side. Further proof that life is cruel, heartless and pointless. #FriendsdontletfriendsreadCharlesDickens #sacrilegious #DickenscouldntholdDostoyevkysumbrella

You're the same numb
When you sing, it's over
Such a strange numb
It could bring back peace to the Earth
History teaches us that all ruling elites try to portray themselves as the natural and durable social order, even ones that are in serious crisis, and that threaten to devour their environmental base in order to continually recreate their hierarchical structure of power and privilege.

I love this book. I read it every year. Leo Tolstoy‘s Confession is a deeply personal account of his battle with depression and search for meaning. He describes feeling lost, overwhelmed by doubt, and consumed by despair, even contemplating suicide. Yet, through his struggle, he eventually finds hope in a simple, faith-filled life. While I‘m agnostic I am envious of people of faith. People who have true inner peace. I can‘t imagine the feeling.
And Jesus was a sailor when he walked upon the water
And he spent a long time watching from his lonely wooden tower
And when he knew for certain only drowning men could see him
He said all men will be sailors then until the sea shall free them
But he himself was broken, long before the sky would open
Forsaken, almost human, he sank beneath your wisdom like a stone
Is that you John Wayne? Is this me?
Come back.
Now I‘m going to read on the floor.
This wonderful gift of life, this sight, this smell, this touch, this taste, the glorious ability of thought.

Third World revolutionaries are branded as the enemies of stability.
“Stability” is a code word for a society in which privileged social
relations are securely entrenched. When popular forces mobilize
against privilege and wealth, this causes “instability,” which is judged
to be undesirable by U.S. policymakers and their faithful flacks in the
U.S. corporate media.

Hey Vanity, this vials empty and so are you.
I feel that this has given me the most incredible and wonderful thing that I have ever been given, and also, the worst. It's a mixed bag. I have been taken to the to the depths of extreme terror by this. I've had my whole soul undermined by it, on the one hand. On the other hand in one sense, my experience has been about finding joy.
What‘s happening now all falls under the Neoliberalism play book doused with fascism. We‘ve been heading in this direction for decades. The Cheeto just put it into overdrive. #Thewholethingithinkitssick

Marks its presence with an inevitable sway.
As blossoms wither, the cycle transforms,
In graceful surrender, they slowly decay
