Lying Out Loud: A Companion to The DUFF
Lying Out Loud: A Companion to The DUFF | Kody Keplinger
3 posts | 14 read | 10 to read
Kody Keplinger returns to the world of The DUFF in this brand-new companion novel! Sonny Ardmore is an excellent liar. She lies about her dad being in prison. She lies about her mom kicking her out. And she lies about sneaking into her best friend's house every night because she has nowhere else to go. Amy Rush might be the only person Sonny shares everything with -- secrets, clothes, even a nemesis named Ryder Cross. Ryder's the new kid at Hamilton High and everything Sonny and Amy can't stand -- a prep-school snob. But Ryder has a weakness: Amy. So when Ryder emails Amy asking her out, the friends see it as a prank opportunity not to be missed. But without meaning to, Sonny ends up talking to Ryder all night online. And to her horror, she realizes that she might actually like him. Only there's one small catch: he thinks he's been talking to Amy. So Sonny comes up with an elaborate scheme to help Ryder realize that she's the girl he's really wanted all along. Can Sonny lie her way to the truth, or will all her lies end up costing her both Ryder and Amy?

Mehso-so

3🌟 This is a very light, funny young adult love triangle novel. If you enjoyed The DUFF, it is set in the same town and there is a little Wesley and Bianca. Definitely not a life-changing book, and I'd recommend it more for actual teens than adults. It's a pick for teens, so-so for adults.

A little repetitive on the plot points, but just the kind of escapism I need right now.

I'm continuing my foray into young adult land even though I'm in my 30s, and no one can stop me! Lol 😜 Growing up is a choice, and on Sunday afternoon, I can be a kid for a bit! #manifesto

Notafraidofwords I read a lot and once in a while I do pick up a YA and absolutely love it. 8y
ramyasbookshelf I love to indulge in YA books too! I don't think I read too many when I was a young adult (I was in too much hurry to read the grown up books then) so I am making up for it now.. 8y
overlyattachedreader 😄 I'm in the middle of a YA book right now too. I love reading them when I feel a reading slump coming on. They tend to cure it real fast! 8y

Tjprender I still like the ya books and John Stewart called ya books "books anyone can read" 8y
Megabooks @Tjprender I knew I like him! 😊 8y
Megabooks @Taryn @ramyasbookshelf @Ryanira9 I usually read one a week for a short Saturday review on my blog. Saturday is a kind of newsletter. Now I've got the next two weeks covered or one week and one in the can for later. I just used my canned one this week. I definitely needed a break from adult lit! 8y
ReadingOver50 I'm in my 50's and still read YA 8y
Megabooks Yay @ReadingOver50 😊👍🏻 8y
