I really liked this book. Of course it was only after I finished it did I realize that this was the fourth in the series. Despite that, I had no trouble following the story and keeping track of the characters. Clodagh is a very compelling heroine.

Picked this up at the library book sale for $0.50! I read the Sevenwaters trilogy over ten years ago and enjoyed this look back into the world through the eyes of the next generation. Now I wish I still had the first 3 to reread! Time for a trip to the library.

Not sure if any of my Litsy friends have read this but I can't help but picture Becan as baby Groot.

aforestofpages How are you liking the Sevenwaters series? I'm thinking of starting it sometime this summer and would love to hear your thoughts! 7y
ElyssaReads @aforestofpages I LOVED the original trilogy when I first read them 10+ years ago so this is my first fresh look at the world since then. I think the author combines fantasy and some romance well and does a great job of building the world and characters for you before jumping into the story. I'd say they're worth a try for sure! Son of the Shadows is probably my favorite but Daughter of the Forest is fantastic as well. 7y
Donna_sBookMinute I can see that. The facial expression 💖 7y

Juliet Marillier is one of my favorite authors. Clodagh is atypical of her usual heroines because she isn't a seer or especially in tune with the Fair Folk. I loved this story. Her writing is sweeping and epic.
