The first one of the series… I would say this book is addictive in the sense that once you‘ve finished one chapter, you want to quickly get through the next one. The book overall leans heavy on drama, obsession, and emotional tension ❄️🩵

This is pure ridiculous, problematic, offensive trash! So, yeah--it's a pick! 🗑👍😁

Funny toast: If the ocean was beer and I was a duck,
I‘d swim to the bottom and drink my way up.
But the ocean‘s not beer, and I‘m not a duck.
So raise your glass high and shut the f-ck up!
given by the main character.

Dash is wandering the stacks in the Strand when he comes upon a red notebook. He opens it and reads, “I‘ve left some clues for you. If you want them, turn the page.” Lily, who is having a bummer of a Christmas, has left this notebook at the Strand in the hopes that her future soulmate will pick it up and play the game. The two teens pass messages and dates back and forth via the red notebook in a very grumpy/sunshine-holiday spirit kind of way.

Not my cup of tea. Though Simone makes consent and agency crystal clear, the repetition broke the flow for me. Add in Tyler‘s constant rush to judgment, Poppy‘s questionable choices, and a few plot points that made me roll my eyes, and the story never fully clicked. I see why others love it, but it wasn‘t in my wheelhouse.

Cindy Steel nails it every single time. Such feel good, non-cheesy, no spice but still serves the butterflies in the stomach, sweet, relatable main character, Golden Retriever male lead, chef‘s kiss of a book. Christmas romance done right 🎄✅❄️🎣🥰
